Elements from the Castor Troy pistols inspire this 1911 Restomod, but it is not endorsed, sponsored, affiliated with, or officially connected to Face/Off, its creators, producers, distributors, or any associated parties in any way.
“Wow. We have something in common. We both know our guns.”
-Castor Troy, while in a standoff with Sean Archer
Unlike our Magnum P.I. RestoMod of 2024, which was a relatively minimalist pop culture firearm, the Castor Troy pistol is perhaps the loudest 1911 in cinema. The gun’s styling is as ostentatious as Nicholas Cage’s portrayal of the iconic 90s villain, becoming one of the most famous 1911s ever to see the silver screen.
John Woo’s epic masterpiece, Face/Off, would become an instant classic Cage film, on the heels of the actor’s success in 1996’s The Rock. Unlike his role as a meek FBI chemical specialist in The Rock, Nicholas Cage’s portrayal as Castor Troy would see the star become virtually unhinged as he switches “roles” between villain and hero throughout the movie. It is a cinematic roller coaster that will leave you saying, “I just want to take his face… off!”. If you haven’t seen the movie, it’s truly one of the defining pieces of Nicholas Cage’s portfolio.
In addition to Castor Troy’s flamboyant personality and attire is his golden set of 1911 pistols. The original guns were built by Springfield Armory’s Custom Shop for the movie, modified for blank fire. The opening act of Face/Off showcases these guns best, as Castor Troy’s “getaway” plane crashes into a hanger and a ferocious gunfight ensues between Troy and Sean Archer’s team of FBI Agents, leading to his eventual capture by the Bureau. The movie is an absolute riot (no, literally, there’s a prison riot in there) of a film, one that even changed our Gen Z Sales Kid’s entire perception on the action movie genre itself.
If a film where John Travolta plays an FBI agent playing Nicholas Cage playing a psychopathic murder is wrong, we at Alchemy Custom Weaponry don’t want to be right.
The Face-Off pistols painstakingly recreate the “hero” (or really, villain, or technically hero when Archer carries them…you know what we mean) 1911’s wielded by Castor Troy.
In the tradition of our RestoMod series, we have reproduced the markings with our own Alchemy Custom Weaponry twist, “Alchemy Custom” above the ball cuts, “Alchemy Armory” under the ejection port, and the ACW logo’ing in front of the cocking serrations. The pistol is finished in a gold titanium nitride with contrasting DLC parts, including the thumb safety, barrel, sights, delta hammer, mainspring housing, grip safety and “k-hole” skeletonized trigger. The gun also utilizes a bull barrel and full length guide rod, just like the originals.
The barrel is ported eight times, just as the prop pistols were. And, aside from the gold finish, perhaps the most striking feature of the Face-Off RestoMod are the stocks, with as close to screen accurate dragons laser etched into the ebony wood. Filled with matched gold, the dark ebony panels are in stark contrast to the dragons and gold TiN grip screws. (You can purchase the grips separately HERE)
The gun will be delivered in a custom wooden case, with the same dragon emblazoned on the lid. Within, you’ll find a serialized plaque with an inscription describing the provenance of the handgun.

Finally, the pistols are finished with a custom serial number – “PEACH0XX” with only 36 made, just in case everyone wants two of these gems. If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll know what makes this so special. If you haven’t, you should just trust us on this, nab the gun (or two) and sit back and enjoy one of the craziest action films ever produced while you await your pistol(s).
We’ll leave you with this, while you contemplate your choices:
“If I were to send you flowers where would I… no, let me rephrase that. If I were to let you suck my tongue, would you be grateful?”
-Castor Troy being… Castor Troy
